Miscreants kill Moturu Sarpanch

Vijayawada, Jul 23 (UNI) Two unidentified miscreants murdered Moturu Sarpanch I Narasimha
Rao at Gudivida Mandal in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh, this afternoon.

Police said the Sarpanch, a close associate of State Higher Education Minister P Venkateswara
Rao, was proceeding  on a two-wheeler along with his friend to Moturu village from Gudivada
when the incident happened.

As soon as their motor bike reached the Railway gate at Moturu, the waiting miscreants pounced
on Rao and hacked him, while his friend Suresh who was driving the motor bike was assaulted.

However, Suresh escaped from the spot with minor injuries, police added. The miscreants then
threw the body on the railway track and fled on the motor bike, police said.

The motive behind the murder was stated to be on old rivalry.


Explosive seized,1 arrested

Visakhapatnam, July 23 (UNI) The City Police today arrested a 25-year-old youth for illegaly
manufacturing and storing explosives and fire crackers worth Rs 2 lakh in his house at Pendurthy.

Pendurthy Sub Inspector Vijayanand said today acting on specific information, they conducted
raids on the house of the youth, K Kirnan Kumar and recovered the huge quantity of fire crackers
and raw materials used in the manufacturing of the explosives.

A case was registered and the accused was taken into custody, police added.


Cop kills wife, lives with body

Hyderabad, Jul 23 (UNI) In a gruesome incident, a Police Official allegedly killed his wife and lived
with her body for the last  three days in an inebriated condition in the city.

The incident came to light today when the neighbours informed the police about foul smell coming
from the Police Official's house.

Police said AP Special Protection Force (SPF) Sub-Inspector  Venugopal, working as Security
Officer with AP Foods Factory, was found in an unconscious state next to his wife Nilavati's body
after police broke open the doors. The body was highly decomposed.

According to police, Venugopal had not attended his duty for the last ten days and was regularly
consuming alcohol after quarrelling  with his wife. He had not come out of the house since July 20,
the day Nilavati was killed.

The policeman was taken into custody and a case was registered. The method used to kill his wife
is yet to be ascertained.
