RJD supremo Lalu Prasad’s elder son and Janshakti Janta Dal chief Tej Pratap was in the fourth slot in Mahua seat after the eighth round of counting, according to trends available on the Election Commission website at 1 pm on Friday.
Yadav, who recently floated his political outfit after being expelled from the RJD by his father,
was trailing by 20,188 votes from Sanjay Kumar Singh of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), who is leading there.
Yadav polled 5,860 votes after the eighth round, while Singh of LJP (Ram Vilas) bagged 26,048 votes followed by Mukesh Kumar Raushan of the RJD (17,481 votes) and Amit Kumar of AIMIM who currently occupied the third spot (8,096 votes).
Tej Pratap was expelled from the RJD on May 25 for six years, a day after he reportedly confessed to being ‘in a relationship’ with a woman.
He, however, deleted the social media post later claiming that his page was “hacked”. Lalu Prasad also disowned Tej Pratap due to his “irresponsible behaviour”.

In a setback for the Congress, its Bihar unit president Rajesh Kumar and CLP leader Shakeel Ahmad Khan were trailing in Kutumba and Kadwa assembly seats, respectively, according to the Election Commission’s website.
Kumar was behind HAM (Secular) nominee Lalan Ram by 7,288 votes in Kutumba, while Khan, the Congress legislative party (CLP) leader, was trailing JD(U) candidate Dulal Chandra Goswami by 23,785 votes in Kadwa.
The party was leading only in six seats out of 61 it contested in the Bihar polls.
Congress nominee Surendra Prasad was leading from Valmiki Nagar, Mohd. Qamrul Hoda from Kishanganj, Manohar Prasad Singh from Manihari, Amita Bushan from Begusarai, Anil Kumar from Bikram, and Mangal Ram from Chenari.
AIMIM leads in five seats in Bihar
The Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM was leading in five seats as counting was underway for the Bihar assembly polls on Friday, according to the Election Commission.
The party, which has significant influence in the Seemanchal region that has a high Muslim population, is contesting 29 of the 243 seats in the assembly. Twenty-four of the seats it is contesting are in the Seemanchal region.
All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen’s (AIMIM) Md Sarawar Alam was leading in Kochadhaman by 13,996 votes after the 11th round of counting, while Akhtarul Iman was ahead in Amour by 14,262 votes after the ninth round of counting.
Ghulam Sarwar was leading in Baisi by 9,355 votes after the sixth round of counting, whereas Mohammad Murshid Alam was ahead in Jokihat by 5,332 votes after the 11th round.
The party’s Thakurganj candidate Ghulam Hasnain was ahead by 357 votes after 10 rounds of counting.
Overall, the ruling NDA appeared to register a landslide victory, opening up impressive leads in more than 180 seats, with early trends also indicating that the BJP was on track to post its biggest tally with an excellent strike rate.
‘Vote chori’ in Bihar too, claims Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday claimed that there was “vote chori” (vote theft) in Bihar too, where the ruling NDA is leading, surpassing the majority mark, as the counting of votes is underway for Assembly polls held in that state.
He, however, said that he is yet to get information on the reasons for the Congress-RJD led alliance set back and NDA’s march towards victory with a majority.
“We have to accept the mandate of the people. I don’t know what caused the set back. I had not gone there (to Bihar). I don’t know who did not vote (for us), why the NDA has won with a big majority. I will try to know,” Siddaramaiah told reporters in response to a question on setback for Mahagatbandhan in Bihar.

Bihar polls: NDA heading for landslide win; BJP to emerge as single-largest party
The BJP-led NDA appeared to register a landslide victory in Bihar, opening up impressive leads in more than 180 of the state’s 243 assembly seats, with early trends also indicating that the saffron party was on track to post its biggest tally with an excellent strike rate.
According to trends available on the Election Commission’s website by noon, the BJP was set to emerge as the single-largest party with a lead in more than 80 assembly seats out of 101 it contested, a performance that would further cement its position as the numero uno political force in the country, offsetting whatever setback that might have been caused by last year’s Lok Sabha polls.
The NDA’s tally in Bihar comes in the backdrop of the BJP’s back-to-back stupendous performances in Delhi, Maharashtra and Haryana.
Firm backing to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his team also appeared to have paid rich dividends for the JD(U), which seems poised to drastically improve its tally since 2020, when it had won only 43 seats, but was now leading in more than 70.
The LJP(RV), headed by Union minister Chirag Paswan, the self-declared “Hanuman” of the Prime Minister, was leading in over 20 seats, a stellar show taking into consideration the fact that it had contested only 29.
The RJD, which has been priding itself on being the “single largest party” despite being in the opposition, seems to be putting up a dismal show, with a lead in fewer than 40 seats, though it had contested more than 140.
Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leads in 19 seats
Union minister Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), a constituent of the NDA, was ahead in 19 of the 28 seats it contested in the Bihar assembly elections, according to the latest trends available on the EC website.
Its candidates were leading in Govindganj, Belsand, Sugauli, Bahadurganj, Kasba, Balrampur, Simri Bakhtiyarpur, Bochahan, Darauli, Mahua, Parbatta, Nathnagar, Fatuha, Dehri, Obra, Sherghati, Bodh Gaya, Rajauli and Gobindpur seats.

NDA allies JD(U) and BJP go neck-and-neck, Chirag Paswan-led LJP (RV) emerges as the dark horse.
NDA allies JD(U) and BJP are going neck-and-neck as the alliance continues to surge ahead, early trends suggested.
The biggest revelation is however the Chirag Paswan-led LJP (RV) that is leading in over 15 of the 29 seats it contested. If the trends hold, his political stock could rise, so could his influence in the alliance and position in state govt.
In the Mahagathbandhan, the RJD continues to enjoy primacy as the Congress seems to pull it back, leading only in 13 of the 61 seats it contested, bringing to the fore, the lack of mutual conversion of votes.
The Left too seems to be on the backfoot leading only in 4 of the 20 seats it fielded candidates in, lower than the 12 it won last time.
Debutant VIP also does not seem to be adding much to the Mahagathbandhan even as the IIP seems to be doing well.
Overall, the NDA looks ahead in terms of better social combination and in comparison, to Mahagathbandhan’s.

10:09 AM: Bihar Assembly Results:
BJP and JD(U) are running neck and neck, each trading marginal leads across rounds. The RJD, which emerged as the single largest party in the last Assembly polls, is lagging behind in the chase to repeat that performance, though officials caution it’s far too early to draw hard conclusions from first-hour data.
– Within the Mahagathbandhan, the Congress remains the weak link, struggling to open strong leads in the seats it contested. Meanwhile, LJP (Ram Vilas) is slowly picking up traction, posting early movements that the NDA will be watching closely, given Chirag Paswan’s role in the alliance’s social arithmetic.
– It is still early, margins remain thin, and several rounds of EVM counting are yet to land, but the competitive BJP–JD(U) race is emerging as the story to watch.
