SC urged to set up panel to study Agnipath

The Supreme Court to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to enquire about the violent protests against the controversial military recruitment scheme launched by the Central government.

New Delhi: A petition has been filed by a lawyer in the Supreme Court seeking directions to set up an expert committee led by a retired apex court judge to examine the Agnipath scheme and its impact on national security and the Army.

Lawyer Vishal Tiwar also urged the Supreme Court to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to enquire about the violent protests against the controversial military recruitment scheme launched by the Central government.

The lawyer sought appropriate directions to assess the damage caused to public property including the railways in the protests against the scheme.
