The conversation took an amusing turn when Pietersen, reflecting on his cricketing career, humorously remarked about having Mahendra Singh Dhoni “in his pocket,” alongside recalling his maiden Test wicket against ex-Pakistani wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal. Pietersen cheekily referenced an instance where Dhoni almost got him out in 2011 at Lord’s, saved only by a successful DRS appeal.

“You know who else I’ve got in my pocket here? The great Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Right there, there he is next to Kamran Akmal,” Pietersen quipped, prompting laughter from the audience.

However, Zaheer Khan, not one to let such remarks slide, promptly responded with his own witty retort. Referencing his recent meeting with Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer playfully mentioned Yuvraj’s claims of having Pietersen “in his pocket,” citing the numerous times Yuvraj dismissed Pietersen with his left-arm spin bowling.

“You know I met Yuvraj Singh recently and he was talking about Kevin Pietersen being there,” Zaheer countered, with a mischievous grin.

The exchange continued in good spirits, with Pietersen acknowledging the anticipated response from Zaheer with a light-hearted jest. However, this banter would mark Pietersen’s final appearance on the commentary panel for the series, as he has since flown back to England.

The playful interaction between the former cricketers added an extra layer of entertainment to the broadcast, showcasing the camaraderie and humor shared among players even after their retirement from the game. As the series progresses, fans will undoubtedly miss Pietersen’s colorful commentary but will cherish moments like these that highlight the lighter side of cricketing rivalries.
