19.34 pc votes polled in Azamgarh & 18.81 per cent in Rampur
According to the Chief Electoral Office office during polling which started at 7 am while 19.84 per cent votes were polled in Azamgarh, 18.81 per cent voter turnout was registered in Rampur till 9 am.
Lucknow: Polling continued as 19.34 per cent out of 35.45 lakh votes were polled till 11 am in the first two hours of polling in Azamgarh and Rampur where by-polls are being held for two Lok Sabha seats.
According to the Chief Electoral Office (CEO) office during polling which started at 7 am while 19.84 per cent votes were polled in Azamgarh, 18.81 per cent voter turnout was registered in Rampur till 9 am.
As per the data of the CEO office more than 18.38 lakh eligible voters will decide the electoral fate of 13 candidates, including a woman, in Azamgarh, whereas more than 17.06 lakh voters, eligible to vote will decide the electoral fate of six candidates in Rampur.
As per the information received from the Election Commission polling is being held at 4,234 polling booths and 2,272 polling centers in both the places. To keep an eye on the polling two general observers and two expenditure observers have been deployed.
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav accused Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government and administration of pressurising the party workers. Afraid of its defeat in the by-elections the BJP government is making SP workers sit in the police station, but remember that when lakhs of people are with SP their gimmicks will not work. The more the pressure will increase, the more voting will increase in support of SP,” he tweeted.
SP too have written a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner accusing police of pressurising electorates to vote in favour of BJP candidate in Tanda and Daryal towns in Suar in Rampur. It has demanded the CEC to take immediate cognizance and act against the police personnel.
