Woman goes missing after visiting temple; dead body found behind it

Hyderabad: A 56-year-old housewife, went missing on April 18 evening after she went out of her house to visit the Sri Swayambu Siddi Vinayaka temple in her colony in Malkajgiri. However, her decomposed body was found in the tall grass behind the same temple on Thursday.

Police believed that the criminals might have dumped it behind the temple on Wednesday night.
The woman identified as G Uma Devi, was the wife of retired railway employee GVN Murthy. She was the resident of Vishnupuri Colony in Malkajgiri.

According to the police, she had blunt injuries on her head and all her jewellery was missing.

When Murthy enquired with the priest after his wife didn’t return from her visit to the temple, he
revealed that she had come to the temple. Her footwear was also found at the temple.

Times of India quoted Malkajgiri inspector B Jagadeeshwar Rao as saying “Previously our teams had checked the surroundings of the temple and nearby areas thoroughly, but the body was not found. On Thursday, we found the decomposed body.”

Police suspect it to be a case of murder for gain and that the criminals might have dumped the body near the temple on Wednesday night.
