Shiv Sena will Contest 22-25 Seats in Goa Assembly Polls: Sanjay Raut

Addressing a press conference here, he said efforts are being made to form a "stable government" in Goa to provide good governance to the people.

Panaji: Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Friday announced that the party would contest 22-25 seats in the assembly elections in Goa.

Addressing a press conference here, he said efforts are being made to form a “stable government” in Goa to provide good governance to the people.

He said the party had contested previous elections in alliance with some other parties but this time it would go alone and try to secure the maximum number of seats.

In 2017, Shiv Sena had contested assembly elections in alliance with Goa Suraksha Manch (GSM), headed by former RSS leader Subhash Velingar and Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP). While Shiv Sena and GSM could not open their account, MGP was able to bag three seats in the 40-member state assembly.

”We are not contesting elections for the first time. Earlier, we had managed to win only two-three seats. Goa has become a place of political carnival. It has become a political laboratory. We will contest the assembly elections with full strength,” he said.

Responding to a question, the Shiv Sena MP said announcements of freebies by other political parties indicated that BJP had not done anything for people.

He said the chief ministerial candidate would be announced at an appropriate time for the polls due next year.
