Owaisi shows concern over alienation of Muslims; seeks security

Owaisi expressed concern on Monday about the situation in Purola, Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, where ‘X’ marks have been placed on Muslim households, indicating that they should leave the area. He stated that several families from the Muslim community have already fled due to the fear of violence by right-wing groups.

In a tweet, Owaisi called for a ban on the upcoming maha panchayat planned by right-wing organizations in Uttarakhand on June 15. He demanded security for the residents and urged arrangements to be made for the return of those who have migrated. Owaisi held the BJP government responsible for the prevailing situation.

Owaisi also expressed his belief that the real agenda behind these incidents is to marginalize Muslims and treat them as second-class citizens. He referred to the situation in Purola as a betrayal of Pasmanda Muslims by the BJP.

According to reports, the trouble began on May 26 when two men allegedly attempted to abduct a 14-year-old girl, which some people claimed to be a case of ‘love jihad.’ Although the accused were arrested, right-wing groups staged protests and attacked shops and houses belonging to Muslims.

During a ‘greet’ program organized by overseas friends of AIMIM in Chicago, USA, Owaisi stated that he does not want to witness a genocide in his country. He drew a parallel between the current situation in India and the events in Germany during the 1930s, where Hitler used films against Jews, claiming that similar films such as ‘The Kashmir Files’ and ‘The Story’ have been released in India, targeting Muslims.

Owaisi acknowledged the marginalization of Muslims in India and stated that the AIMIM is working to provide a political voice for minorities and the oppressed. He also mentioned that the party will disclose its plans regarding the number of assembly seats it will contest during the elections when the time comes.
