In Uttar Pradesh, a heartbreaking incident occurred at the Children’s Girls College. A student named Shreya Tiwari fell from the third floor, resulting in her untimely demise. The principal and teacher of the school were promptly arrested, which led to widespread outrage. This incident, coupled with the recent Azamgarh case, ignited protests across private schools in UP.

Amidst this turmoil, private school operators expressed their discontent over the arrests in Azamgarh’s Children’s Girls School. This dissatisfaction culminated in a joint decision to close schools on August 8. The Association of Progressive Schools of Agra (APSA) President, Dr. Sushil Gupta, issued guidelines for the protest, ensuring that the closure goes beyond a mere holiday and resonates as a unified voice for justice.

On the day of the protest, there will be no online classes, and teachers, administrators, and staff members will gather at 9:00 am, wearing black bands on their hands. A somber moment of prayer for the departed student will set the tone for the day. The Principal’s message will emphasize the purpose behind this collective act of defiance.

In a parallel development, the UP Education Institute Management Council convened an emergency meeting at Krishna Prayag Inter College. The outcome of this meeting was the announcement of school closure on August 8, underscoring the urgency and gravity of the situation.

The sentiment of protest extended to Meerut, where many private schools will also remain closed on August 8. Kanwaljit Singh, President of All India School Leaders Association, made this announcement, expressing solidarity with the cause. Meanwhile, the Purvanchal Schools Welfare Association decided to shut all schools in Varanasi and nearby districts on the same day.

This unity of purpose is demonstrated as hundreds of schools across the state, from Agra and Meerut to Varanasi, unite in protest. On August 8, black bands will symbolize their demand for justice, a fair inquiry, and accountability. The closure of schools is a potent display of the education community’s resolve.
