The new terminal is being developed with modern facilities on par with airports, he said.

Speaking after conducting a detailed inspection of the Charlapalli Satellite Terminal on Saturday, the General Manager appreciated the team and instructed them to further speed up the work.

The development of Cherlapally Railway Station as an alternate coaching terminal has been sanctioned by the Railway Board with a detailed, revised estimated cost of Rs 221 crore.

The works are under execution under phases I and II, for which tenders have already been awarded, and it is targeted to complete the works by the end of 2023.

The station also comes under the MMTS Phase – II project, and several facilities are coming up as part of it as well. In the current year’s budget, Rs 82 crore has been allocated for the Cherlapally satellite terminal development.

It is also proposed to construct an all-weather covered shed” for pit lines at Cherlapally, and the same has been sent to the Railway Board for sanction.

The General Manager was briefed about the progress of infrastructural works and other passenger amenity-related works by the officials, a SCR statement said.
