The case stems from an alleged bribery incident involving the accused officers and private individuals, including Soma Shekar, Rama Krishna, Kumar Achutuna and Raghavendra Gupta.

Earlier, the accused officers demanded a bribe of Rs 5 lakhs from complainant Angc Venkata Ramana, who is an accused in a case.

They claimed that there were Non-Bailable Warrants pending against him and threatened not to execute them and facilitate the recalling of the same. To extract the bribe, the accused officers, along with the private individuals, wrongfully confined the complainant on October25, 2023, in a park at Alkapuri colony and demanded a bribe of Rs 5 Lakhs under threat of executing the warrants.

Under compulsion, the complainant transferred an amount of Rs.3 lakhs from his father’s bank account to the accused officers through the private individuals.

Subsequently, they demanded and accepted bribe amounts from the complainant several times through other individuals.

Faced with constant harassment for the remaining bribe amount, the complainant approached the ACB, leading to the registration of the case.

The ACB City Range apprehended the three police personnel from Chaitanyapuri PS and the four accomplices.

Searches are being conducted in Chaitanyapuri Police Station and other areas as part of the ongoing investigation.

Further action will be taken following the due process of law, a ACB statement said.
