Maha: Minority, Other Outfits Protest Maulana Siddiqui’s Arrest

The agitation call was given jointly by several Muslim outfits and also had the support of the political parties like Congress, NCP, AIMIM and SP.

Aurangabad: A ‘bandh’ was organised here on Friday so as to protest the recent arrest of Maulana Kalim Siddiqui in an alleged conversion racket case, and demanded his immediate release.

The agitation call was given jointly by several Muslim outfits and also had the support of the political parties like Congress, NCP, AIMIM and SP.

The ‘bandh’ impact was mostly seen in the minority-dominated areas of Roshangate, Shaganj, Karkat gate, Rangar Galli, Chelipura, Lota Karanja, Buddilane, Kiradpura and Ganesh Colony.

The commercial establishments remained close in the said areas while the business was as usual in other parts of the city. The agitating outfits condemned Maulana’s September 21 arrest by the UP ATS and termed the allegations against him as baseless.

If the Maulana is not acquitted by the Uttar Pradesh government, then the Muslim community will start agitating further, they told.
