Jaya death probe panel report to be made public : Stalin

The Arumughasamy Commission has recommended action against Jayalalithaa's confidante VK Sasikala among others, and the matter will be discussed with legal experts.

Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin has said that the one man commission of inquiry headed by retired Justice A.Arumughasamy, which probed the death of former Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa, will be made public.

Speaking after solemnising the marriage of senior party leader’s grand daughter here, he said the probe panel report would be tabled in the State Assembly along with the action taken report based on its recommendations.

The Jayalalithaa death probe panel report along with the report of the Justice Aruna Jagadeesan commission, which probed the May 18, 2018 police firing incident on anti-sterlite protestors in which 13 people were killed, were discussed in detail in the recent State Cabinet meeting and it was decided to table it in the State Assembly.

The Arumughasamy Commission has recommended action against Jayalalithaa’s confidante VK Sasikala among others, and the matter will be discussed with legal experts.

According to an official release, the report went into various aspects including her hospitalisation on September 22, 2016 and the treatment provided to her, till her death on December five.
Justice A Arumughasamy submitted the report to Stalin a few days back.

“The cabinet has decided to take the opinion of legal experts on the (Commission) report recommending ordering government enquiry against VK Sasikala, doctor Sivakumar, then health minister C Vijayabaskar and former Chief Secretary Rama Mohana Rao and take due action, and after doing so, place it before the Tamil Nadu Assembly with a report,” he said.

Stalin said the monthly cash assistance of Rs 1,000 for women heads of families as promised in the DMK election manifesto will be launched soon.
