Hyderabad: In response to the recent circulation of a deepfake video featuring popular actor Rashmika Mandanna, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner, Sandeep Sandhilya, delivered crucial directives to social media users this Saturday to mitigate the risks of falling victim to deepfake videos.

Commissioner Shandilya emphatically urged social media users to exercise caution by refraining from uploading profile pictures and maintaining locked accounts. Additionally, he advised against accepting friend requests from strangers and strongly recommended the use of two-factor authentication on social media platforms.

Highlighting the potential dangers, Shandilya issued a stern warning against engaging in video chats with both strangers and friends, emphasizing the susceptibility of such content to morphing and unauthorized circulation. He explicitly requested that users refrain from sharing private video chats with anyone.

In the event of blackmail, Commissioner Shandilya urged victims to promptly contact the police, assuring them that necessary precautions would be taken and strict actions would be implemented against the perpetrators.
