At a time like this, when communally insensitive acts are becoming common in many parts of the country, in a heartwarming example of brotherhood, a Hindu man rescued a Muslim man who accidentally fell into a swollen water body while clearing driftwood.
Driftwood had been washed away by the swollen water body. An earthmover was pressed into service for clearing some of the driftwood which were stuck on a bridge at Hariharapallathadka in Sullia taluk in Dakshina Kannada. During the clearing process, the operator of the earthmover, Shareef, accidentally fell into the water body. Deccan Herald reported.
Somashekar Kattemane sensed danger to the life of Shareef and jumped into the swollen river, risking his own life, and rescued the operator.
He was lauded for this humane gesture after the video of the rescue was circulated on social media.
