Makkah: Severe lightning storms and strong easterly winds hit Saudi Arabia on August 22, causing widespread damage. The cities of Makkah and Jeddah, as well as other regions, were heavily impacted.

The storm’s intensity was captured in a video on social media, showing winds lifting heavy barriers and posing a threat to Umrah pilgrims in Makkah’s Grand Mosque.

In the midst of chaos, a moment of beauty emerged as Umrah pilgrims continued their prayers in the rain at the Grand Mosque of Makkah.

The National Meteorological Centre of Saudi Arabia issued alerts for thunderstorms and active winds in regions including Medina, Makkah, Asir, Jazan, and Al Baha.

A rare video showcased lightning striking the Clock Tower in Makkah at 8pm on Tuesday, with the vivid display lighting up the sky for several seconds.
