Siddaramaiah heckled in Karnataka over Savarkar remarks

One of the protestors even threw a photo of freedom fighter Veer Savarkar into Siddaramaiah's car while the police tried to control the situation.

Madkeri (Karnataka): Amidst the brewing ire over Opposition Leader Siddaramaiah’s “Muslim area” comment in Savarkar-Tipu flex row, a group of protesting Hindu activists heckled and tried to gherao the Congress leader’s car in Kodagu district on Thursday.

The protestors were raising “Go Back Siddaramaiah” when the LoP’s cavalcade passed by them.

One of the protestors even threw a photo of freedom fighter Veer Savarkar into Siddaramaiah’s car while the police tried to control the situation.

They also raised slogans against the Congress leader for organising Tipu Jayanti during his chief ministerial tenure.

History records mention that Tipu Sultan was an Islamic bigot and had massacred millions of Hindus and Christians in Kodagu and Kerala. The erstwhile 18th century Mysuru ruler had converted millions of Hindus and Christians, into Islam on the tip of swords.

Earlier Siddaramaiah had questioned the putting up of Savarkar’s flex in a Muslim area while commenting on the stabbing of Prem Singh in Shivamogga town in connection with Savarkar-Tipu flex controversy.

The BJP has hit back vehemently at Siddaramaiah, claiming that his jihadi mindset is far more dangerous than the jihadis who kill innocent people.

BJP’s National General Secretary CT Ravi today challenged Siddaramaiah to a public debate on nationalist Savarkar and tyrant Tipu Sultan.

“Siddaramaiah’s statement is incorrect and unconstitutional. What does he mean by Savarkar’s poster should not be installed in Muslim areas? This jihadi mindset has resulted in the partition of many countries. Your (Siddaramaiah) periodic jihadi statements are proving to be more dangerous than the jihadis who kill innocents,” he said.

“I challenge Siddaramaiah to a public debate on Savarkar and Tipu,” Ravi added.
