At the video’s outset, a bolt of lightning illuminates the apex of the landmark.
Vivid streaks of lightning were accompanied by resounding crashes, casting an electric blue hue across the night sky.
This rare occurrence persisted for several seconds, with the blue flashes transitioning to shades of purple and branching out.
As per the National Centre of Meteorology in Saudi Arabia, Makkah can expect thundershowers today, accompanied by strong winds that may reduce visibility.
In the Arabian Gulf, the winds will range from southeasterly to southwesterly, blowing at speeds of 15 to 30km/h.
