Muslim family offers house to organise Hindu girl’s marriage during Ramadan

Parvez gifted a gold chain to the groom and treated the guests as if Pooja is their own daughter.

Alwal: A Muslim family residing in Alwal offered their house to organise the marriage function of a Hindu girl. They also participated in the celebrations along with relatives of the bride.

Pooja, the bride, had lost her father in the first Covid wave. Her family had fixed her marriage on April 22 and reached out to their Muslim neighbours for help at the last moment. The Muslim family welcomed the marriage procession at their home despite being in the month of Ramadan, the fasting month of Muslims.

As the bride’s family was not able to book any marriage hall for the marriage of Pooja due to lack of funds and there was no space at their home to hold such a function, they informed their neighbour Parvez about it. Without a second thought, Parvez offered to hold the marriage in the courtyard of his house, informed Pooja’s uncle Rajesh Chaurasia.

While Rajesh and his family focused on making other arrangements, Parvez and his family vacated their courtyard and looked after the task of setting up the mandap, decorating the place and making seating arrangements for guests.

Parvez along with his wife and other family members welcomed the guests. The women of Parvez’s house sang wedding songs along with other women. Chaurasia revealed that Parvez gifted a gold chain to the groom and treated the guests as if Pooja is their own daughter.

Outlook India quoted Parvez’s wife Nadira as saying, “Pooja is like my daughter. So, when we came to know about her wedding, we tried to do whatever little we could, as family members. It’s also the holy month of Ramadan and what can be better than organising the marriage of a daughter.”
