Hyderabad: Several motorists injured as Malakpet road turns slippery

On Monday evening, several motorists suffered injuries as the Malakpet road became dangerously slippery due to an oil-like substance that had spilled. Local residents observed dirty water mixed with oil flowing on the road, causing two-wheeler riders to lose control and fall from their vehicles.

Approximately ten individuals, including women, were injured in the accidents. Fortunately, the swift response from traffic police and authorities helped prevent further accidents.

The traffic police took immediate action by spreading bags of mud on the road to enhance traction and minimize the risk of additional injuries.

The police promptly alerted the officials of the water board and the Disaster Response Force (DRF) team from the GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation), who arrived at the scene to address the issue and carry out rectification work. Unfortunately, the situation led to heavy traffic congestion on the Malakpet-Chaderghat road stretch. To manage the situation, additional traffic policemen were deployed to streamline the flow of vehicles.

Authorities suspect that local mechanics may have disposed of used engine oil into drainage pits, resulting in blockages and subsequent overflow of the oil and water mixture onto the road. This, in turn, created hazardous conditions by making the road extremely slippery.
