On Thursday evening around 5 PM, Aysola Sai Purna Chander Rao, Assistant Director at the Office of the Regional Joint Director of School Education in Hyderabad, was caught red-handed when he demanded and received a bribe of Rs 80,000 through Doddy Jagjeevan, a Superintendent in the office, from the complainant K Shekhar.

The bribe was intended to expedite the processing of a file for granting a no-objection certificate (NOC) for upgrading the school to CBSE standards. The complainant’s school is located in Faroocinagar Mandal, R.R. district, according to an ACB press statement.

The tainted bribe amount of Rs 80,000 was recovered from the possession of Rao, and a chemical test on his fingers yielded a positive result.

In earlier incidents on August 29 and September 12, another accused Satish, a junior assistant, also demanded a bribe amount for himself and instructed the complainant to meet with two other officials to finalise the bribe amount required for processing the file in the RJD Office.

The accused officers—Rao, Jagjeevan, and Satish—were arrested and subsequently presented before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases in Hyderabad.
