Each year, the UAE leader grants such pardons to strengthen family bonds and showcase the benevolent spirit of the religious festival, according to Wam. It is customary for the rulers of the emirates to free prisoners during significant religious occasions, with Eid Al Adha being one of them.

For the year 2023, Eid Al Adha, also known as the “festival of the sacrifice,” will commence on Wednesday, June 28. This occasion falls within the month of Dhu Al Hijja, the last month of the Islamic calendar, which began on Monday.

Dhu Al Hijja is one of the four sacred months for Muslims, known as Al Ash-hur Al Hurom. Additionally, the annual Hajj pilgrimage occurs during this month, starting on June 26.

Similar to other religious holidays observed in the Emirates, Eid Al Adha is a time for friends and family to come together, often sharing meals, and contemplate their lives and faith.
