Leicester violence: Hindu man thanks Muslim activist for saving his life

"He saved my life". "Because of that, I'm still here."

Following spate of violent clashes in England’s Leicester, a model of humanitarian gesture is now making rounds on social media.

In a video that went viral on social media, a Hindu man can be seen thanking a Muslim activist for saving his life from a violent mob. The video also shows Ram Keshwala being attacked by a group of Muslim men.

Sky News reported that a Hindu man who needed stitches after his head was slashed during violence in Leicester has thanked the Muslim activist who stepped in to save him. It added that in the video footage, a man can be seen trying to drag Mr Keshwala out of the vehicle. Soon Muslim community activist Majid Freeman is seen stepping in to say “leave him” and closes the car door to stop the attack.

Majid Freeman posted the video on twitter stating, “During the #LeicesterViolence, Ram was attacked after falsely being accused of trying to run Muslims over. Me and others intervened to stop the attack. Footage later emerged showing how I stepped in. I’m just glad he wasn’t seriously injured.

Recalling what happened on 17 September, when violence spread across the city, Mr Keshwala says “He saved my life”.

“Because of that, I’m still here.”
