SC to hear Sena plea against disqualification on July 20

14 Shiv Sena MLAs of Thackeray camp against disqualification proceedings and the top court said it will hear the pleas along with other petitions filed in the connected cases.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday said it will hear on July 20 a petition moved by MLAs from Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena camp after the Maharashtra Speaker called for their disqualification in the aftermath of Eknath Shinde taking over as chief minister.

Senior lawyer, Devadatt Kamat mentioned the fresh writ petition filed by 14 Shiv Sena MLAs of Thackeray camp against disqualification proceedings and the top court said it will hear the pleas along with other petitions filed in the connected cases.

“We will hear on July 20, Wednesday, hear all the pleas filed with respect to Maharashtra,” Chief Justice NV Ramana said.

The apex court will also hear a petition filed by the Thackeray-led group challenging the Speaker’s decision of recognising the chief whip nominated by Shinde’s faction.
