INDIA bloc to boycott news shows of 14 anchors, list released

New Delhi: The Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc has decided to boycott the news shows of 14 anchors. The decision was announced on Thursday by the bloc’s media sub-group.

Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera shared a note of the INDIA bloc’s media group decision on his Twitter handle and said, “The following decision was taken by the INDIA media committee in a virtual meeting held this afternoon.”

The note listed the following anchors whose shows will be boycotted by the INDIA bloc:

  • Aman Chopra
  • Amish Devgan
  • Anand Narsimhan
  • Arnab Goswami
  • Ashok Shrivastav
  • Chitra Tripathi
  • Gaurav Sawant
  • Navika Kumar
  • Prachi Parashar
  • Rubika Liaquat
  • Shiv Aroor
  • Sudhir Chaudhary
  • Sushant Sinha

The decision was taken by the INDIA bloc’s coordination committee in its meeting on September 13. The coordination committee authorized the media sub-group to decide upon the names of the anchors whose shows will be boycotted.

The INDIA bloc also announced a 19-member working group for media on September 1 during its third meeting in Mumbai. The working group includes members from the Congress, RJD, Shiv Sena, NCP, AAP, JD-U, CPM, Samajwadi Party, JMM, CPI, NC, Prashant Kannojia, AIFB, CPI-ML, and PDP.

The INDIA bloc is an alliance of opposition parties that was formed in May 2023. The bloc is led by the Congress and includes the RJD, Shiv Sena, NCP, AAP, JD-U, CPM, Samajwadi Party, JMM, CPI, NC, and Prashant Kannojia.

The INDIA bloc has been critical of the Modi government’s policies and has accused it of undermining democracy and freedom of the press. The bloc’s boycott of the news shows of the 14 anchors is seen as a further escalation of its campaign against the government.
