The Telangana government is gearing up for a large-scale saree distribution drive on Wednesday to mark the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will formally inaugurate the Indiramma Saree Distribution Programme at Necklace Road in Hyderabad.

The initiative aims to distribute sarees to one crore women across the state, with the government declaring that every eligible beneficiary will receive an Indiramma saree.

On Wednesday, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is scheduled to interact with women from various rural mandals through video conferencing from the Secretariat. Following this, district-level officials will begin distributing sarees in villages.

Due to delays in the production of sarees, the government has planned the distribution in two distinct phases.

The sarees for this programme are being produced by the weavers of Sirisilla, known for their expertise in textile craftsmanship. The Chief Minister has instructed officials to ensure that the quality of the sarees is not compromised at any stage. He also emphasized that the distribution process should be fully transparent.

Reiterating the government’s commitment, Revanth Reddy said the goal is to provide one crore sarees to one crore women, ensuring that every eligible woman receives an Indiramma saree without exception.
