Hyderabad: In a series of inspections conducted on May 28, 2024, the Task Force team uncovered multiple violations at several oil re-packing units in the Katedhan area. The inspections targeted three prominent establishments: Bhaghyanagar Oil Refineries, Kedia Agro, and Ambica Oil Industries.
The following breaches of regulations were identified:
- Sanitation Issues: Windows were found open to the outside environment without proper insect-proof screens, and doors were not adequately fitted to prevent the entry of pests.
- Licensing Violations: Vehicles used for transporting raw materials and finished goods were operating without valid FSSAI licenses.
- Documentation Gaps: Essential records, including Medical Fitness Certificates for food handlers, pest control records, cleaning schedules for the premises, and Recall Plan documents for the products, were not maintained.
- Testing Deficiencies: Food materials were not tested in an internal laboratory or any accredited laboratory, and no records of such tests were found. Additionally, no technically qualified personnel were employed by the Food Business Operators (FBOs).
- Safety and Hygiene Non-Compliance: FBOs failed to provide headgear, gloves, and uniforms/aprons to their staff.
- Licensing Display Issues: True copies of the FSSAI licenses were not displayed prominently at Bhaghyanagar Oil Refineries and Kedia Agro.
In response to these findings, improvement notices have been issued to the establishments, mandating immediate corrective actions to ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
