The Telangana government has earmarked a massive ₹20,000 crore for Hyderabad’s development over the next two years, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka announced on Thursday. The investment aims to strengthen infrastructure, civic services, and urban growth, positioning Hyderabad as a leading city both nationally and globally.

Unprecedented Investment for Hyderabad
Addressing an event held alongside the CREDAI Property Exhibition at HITEX, Bhatti Vikramarka said such a large-scale allocation exclusively for Hyderabad is unprecedented in the state’s history. He noted that several projects under this funding have already been finalised, while many are currently underway.
Major Allocations Across Key Agencies
The Deputy Chief Minister detailed the breakup of the ₹20,000 crore allocation, highlighting focused spending across multiple civic bodies:
- ₹1,950.52 crore within Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits
- ₹12,500 crore for the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB)
- ₹4,365 crore for the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA)
He said the funding reflects the government’s focus on balanced urban development, improved civic amenities, and sustainable growth.
Hyderabad Competing With Global Cities
Bhatti Vikramarka stated that Hyderabad is no longer competing only with Indian cities, but also with major global urban centres in terms of investment, skilled workforce, and quality of life. He described Hyderabad as one of the fastest-growing and most investment-attractive cities in India.
Expansion of GHMC a Landmark Decision
Calling the merger of 27 surrounding urban local bodies into GHMC a landmark step, the Deputy Chief Minister said the move enables:
- Uniform civic services
- Integrated urban planning
- A unified development vision within the Outer Ring Road area
He added that Hyderabad is now being developed as a cohesive metropolitan city, rather than a collection of isolated affluent pockets.
Massive Infrastructure Push Under H-CITI
Under the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure Programme (H-CITI), projects worth over ₹7,032 crore are being implemented, including:
- 45 flyovers and underpasses
- 10 major road widening projects
Key regional highlights include:
- ₹1,090 crore projects near KBR Park to ease traffic congestion
- ₹837 crore multi-level flyovers near IIIT and Khajaguda
- ₹960 crore alternative road networks near the Army Ordnance Centre in North Hyderabad
- ₹416 crore flyovers in East Hyderabad
- ₹863 crore road widening works in South Hyderabad
Focus on Inclusive and Balanced Growth
Bhatti Vikramarka emphasised that the government’s approach is rooted in equitable and inclusive urban development, ensuring that the benefits of growth reach all sections of society. He assured that Hyderabad will continue to be Telangana’s main engine for employment, innovation, and global investment.
“We are not just building flyovers and roads. We are rebuilding trust in governance and strengthening public institutions,” he said, adding that the government remains open to addressing challenges faced by the real estate sector.
