4 BRS leaders join Congress before Lok Sabha polls at Gandhi Bhawan – Telangana
Telugu actor Allu Arjun’s father-in-law Kancharla Chandrasekhar Reddy also joined the party.
Hyderabad: Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, a significant development occurred today as four prominent leaders from the BRS party decided to quit and join the Congress.
The joining ceremony took place at the Congress headquarters, Gandhi Bhawan, in the presence of AICC Telangana in-charge, Deepa Das Munshi. Among those who made the switch were former BRS MLA C Patnam Mahender Reddy, ex-BRS ZPTC chairperson Patnam Sunitha Reddy along with her son Rineesh Reddy. There’s speculation that Sunitha Reddy might be considered for a Lok Sabha ticket in the Chevella constituency.
Additionally, ex-GHMC mayor Bonthu Rammohan Reddy, along with his wife, Bonthu Sridevi, also joined the Congress ranks. Rammohan Reddy is reportedly in contention for an MP ticket from the Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency. Expressing his reasons for the move, Rammohan Reddy cited the lack of recognition and opportunities within the BRS party for those who contributed during the Telangana movement and over the past decade.
Other notable figures who joined the Congress include former mayor and BRS MLA Teegala Krishna Reddy, his daughter-in-law Anita Reddy, as well as former GHMC deputy mayor Mothe Srilatha Reddy and her husband Shobhan Reddy.
In a surprising development, Telugu actor Allu Arjun’s father-in-law, Kancharla Chandrasekhar Reddy, also announced his allegiance to the Congress party. Speaking to Tv9 Telugu, he expressed his willingness to serve the party in various capacities, including contesting elections or supporting candidates through campaigning, demonstrating his commitment to the party’s cause.
