New Delhi: The Congress party, while securing alliances with the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), faces hurdles in Bengal and Maharashtra.
In Bengal, negotiations with Trinamool Congress hit a snag over seat-sharing, with the state unit aiming for more seats than offered. Despite efforts to reconcile, a clear understanding remains elusive.
Meanwhile, in Maharashtra, discussions within the INDIA bloc, comprising Congress, Shiv Sena, and NCP, are ongoing. Disagreements persist over seat distribution, particularly in Mumbai.
Challenges also arise from recent exits of senior leaders. However, Congress remains optimistic, asserting unity within the alliance and predicting electoral success.
Despite these obstacles, Congress has secured pacts with SP and AAP, delineating seat-sharing arrangements in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Goa. The challenge ahead lies in balancing local sentiments with the broader goal of countering the BJP.
