‘Salute to the Courage of Women Workers’
Speaking on the occasion, Kavitha said the protest by women workers of Shaahi Exports is inspiring. She praised their courage and determination, stating that despite facing hardships while staging protests on the streets, the women have not stepped back from demanding their rights.
She urged the women workers to continue their protest until justice is delivered, stressing that backing down would only weaken their cause.
Strong Criticism of Government and Labour Department
Kavitha questioned the silence of the government, pointing out that around 2,500 women workers have been protesting for nearly 15 days, yet no concrete steps have been taken.
She asked why:
- The Labour Commissioner has not acted
- The Labour Minister Vivek has not intervened
- Labour laws are not being enforced
According to her, the Shaahi Exports protest exposes how the present government is failing to take workers’ issues seriously.
No Wage Hike for Nine Years, DA Not Paid
Kavitha highlighted that workers at Shaahi Exports have not received any wage hike for the last nine years, while the cost of living has increased sharply. She said:
- Labour laws are being violated
- Dearness Allowance (DA) is not being paid
- Workers are being denied their basic rights
She asserted that the protest is a fight for justice and dignity.
Ultimatum to Government: Resolve in 2–3 Days
The Telangana Jagruti president issued a clear warning that if the issue is not resolved within two to three days, the organisation will join the workers on the streets.
She said:
- Telangana Jagruti will stand shoulder to shoulder with workers
- Other labour leaders will also be mobilised
- Pressure will be mounted on the government for strict implementation of labour laws
Kavitha stressed that justice to 2,500 women workers is non-negotiable.
Telangana Jagruti Leaders to Join the Struggle
Kavitha added that Telangana Jagruti Working President Roop Singh, himself a labour leader, will actively support the movement. She said she plans to take up the issue after her visit to Kothagudem, but hoped the government would resolve the matter before that.
The Shaahi Exports workers’ protest in Nacharam continues to gain momentum as pressure mounts on the government to act.
