Congress to Protest in Hyderabad Over Nitish Kumar’s Hijab Pulling Controversy, Calls It a Shameful Incident

Munsif News 24×7 | Hyderabad: The Congress party in Hyderabad has strongly condemned Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over the controversial hijab incident involving a woman doctor at a government function. Calling the act shameful and unconstitutional, the party announced a peaceful protest in Hyderabad on December 20, demanding accountability and respect for women’s dignity.

Hyderabad Congress Condemns Hijab Incident

Addressing the media, Hyderabad District Congress Committee (DCC) President Syed Khalid Saifullah said the alleged act of pulling a woman doctor’s hijab was a serious violation of personal dignity and privacy.

He stated that such behaviour amounts to an abuse of power and goes against the fundamental rights guaranteed under Article 21 of the Constitution, which protects individual freedom, dignity, and choice.

‘Not About Religion, It’s About Women’s Dignity’

Syed Khalid Saifullah made it clear that the issue is not political or religious, but a matter of women’s honour and personal space.

“No one, irrespective of position or authority, has the right to humiliate a woman in public. This concerns every woman’s dignity,” he said.

He urged authorities to take the matter seriously and called for immediate action to ensure such incidents are not repeated.

Congress Seeks Action, Urges Women’s Rights Protection

The Hyderabad Congress leadership demanded that women’s rights bodies take note of the incident and ensure accountability. The party said silence over such acts only encourages misuse of power and normalises disrespect towards women.

Peaceful Protest Planned on December 20

The Hyderabad DCC announced a peaceful protest on December 20 at 4 pm, with the venue to be finalised after obtaining police permission.

According to party leaders:

  • The protest will remain peaceful and lawful
  • It will send a strong message in support of women’s dignity
  • Citizens from all communities are invited to participate

“Our protest stands for dignity, respect, and constitutional values,” Saifullah said.

‘Hyderabad Will Not Stay Silent’

Reiterating the party’s stand, the DCC president said Hyderabad will not remain silent when the dignity of women is violated by those in power. He added that the protest aims to raise public awareness and uphold constitutional principles.

The Congress protest over the Nitish Kumar hijab incident is expected to draw attention across Telangana, as political reactions continue to grow nationwide.
