Hyderabad: In a shocking case of domestic violence, the Hyderabad Police arrested a man within 24 hours for allegedly burning his wife alive in the Nallakunta area of the city. The brutal murder took place under the limits of Nallakunta Police Station, sending shockwaves across Hyderabad.

Woman Set Ablaze While Sleeping
According to police officials, the incident occurred late night on December 23. The accused, identified as Venkatesh, allegedly poured petrol on his wife Triveni while she was asleep and set her on fire.
- Triveni suffered over 90 percent burn injuries
- She was rushed to hospital for treatment
- She later succumbed to her injuries
Murder Planned in Advance, Say Police
Hyderabad East Zone Additional DCP Narsayya said the murder was premeditated. During investigation, police found that the accused had purchased petrol from a fuel station specifically to carry out the crime.
Police revealed that Venkatesh acted out of prolonged suspicion over his wife’s character, frequently quarrelling with her even over minor issues.

Accused Fled With Children After Crime
After setting his wife on fire, the accused reportedly fled the scene along with the couple’s two children, a son and a daughter. A special police team tracked him down and arrested him in Ameenpur.

Police said:
- Venkatesh is a native of Huzurnagar
- The couple had an inter-caste marriage about ten years ago
- They were living in Nallakunta, Hyderabad
- Frequent domestic disputes were reported
Swift Police Action Brings Arrest
The Hyderabad Police acted swiftly and arrested the accused within 24 hours of the crime. Further investigation is underway, and the accused will be produced before the court.
The case has once again raised serious concerns over domestic violence, suspicion-driven crimes, and women’s safety in Hyderabad.
