Government Land Taken in Name of Temple in Karwan, encroached by BJP Leaders, Alleges Residents
Allegations of government land encroachment have surfaced in Hyderabad’s Karwan constituency, with complaints filed against a BJP follower over illegal occupation near a temple and cemetery.

Hyderabad: A fresh controversy has erupted in the Karwan constituency after allegations surfaced that government land has been illegally encroached upon near religious and community spaces. The issue has sparked concern among local residents and community representatives, who are demanding immediate action from authorities.

The disputed land is reportedly located near the Prachin Ganesh Temple and the Kachi Sangh cemetery, an area commonly used for Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations and Darbar Maisamma Jhula events.
300–400 Sq Yards of Government Land Allegedly Encroached
According to the complaint, around 300 to 400 square yards of government land has been occupied by Shiva, who is described as a follower of Amar Singh, a BJP leader who had contested as an MLA candidate from Karwan.
Locals claim the land is meant for public and religious use and should not be diverted for private purposes.
Complaint Filed with Police and Authorities
The President of Kachi Sangh, A. Surender Singh, along with temple authorities, has formally lodged complaints with multiple departments.
Authorities approached include:
- Local Police Station
- Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP)
- District Collector
- Endowment Department
- Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO)
The complainants have demanded:
- Immediate removal of encroachments
- Restoration of government land
- Strict action against those involved in land grabbing
Community Demands Justice
Speaking on the issue, A. Surender Singh said the community would not remain silent and would pursue the matter at higher levels if required.
He stated that:
- The issue will be brought to the notice of the local MLA
- If necessary, they will meet Asaduddin Owaisi and request his intervention
- Justice must be ensured for Karwan residents
Public Land Meant for Festivals and Community Use
Residents stressed that the land in question plays an important role during major festivals and community events, and any encroachment would deprive locals of shared public space.
They urged authorities to act swiftly to prevent further misuse of government land in Karwan.
Awaiting Official Action
As of now, no official response has been issued by the concerned departments. However, officials are expected to examine the complaint and verify land records in the coming days.
The incident has once again highlighted concerns over land encroachment and protection of public property in Hyderabad.
