Telangana DCA Issues Immediate Alert on Almont Kid Syrup

The Telangana Drug Control Authority (DCA) has directed that Almont-Kid Syrup for children should not be used under any circumstances. Officials confirmed that adulteration was detected in one batch of the syrup, making it unsafe for children.

The alert was issued following information received from the Central Drugs authorities regarding contamination found during testing.

Contaminated Batch Detected During Testing

The adulteration was found in Batch AL-24002, which was manufactured by a Bihar-based pharmaceutical company. The issue was first detected during checks conducted in West Bengal, after which a nationwide alert was circulated.

Based on this, the Telangana DCA ordered:

  • Immediate ban on use
  • Stop sale of the syrup in the market
  • Public warning to parents and guardians

Drug Details Parents Must Check Immediately

Parents are strongly advised to check the syrup bottle details at home. The following Almont-Kid Syrup batch should NOT be used:

  • Name of the Drug: Almont-Kid Syrup
  • Batch Number: AL-24002
  • Manufacturing Date: January 2025
  • Expiry Date: December 2026

If this batch is found at home, usage should be stopped immediately.

DCA Director General Orders Strict Action

Telangana DCA Director General Shahnawaz Qasim has ordered strict enforcement to ensure the syrup is removed from pharmacies and medical stores. Officials have been instructed to closely monitor the market and prevent further circulation.
