Fake Karachi Mehendi Manufacturing Unit Busted in Hyderabad, Goods Worth ₹8 Lakh Seized
Hyderabad police busted a fake Karachi Mehendi manufacturing unit in Balapur, seized duplicate cones and machinery worth ₹8 lakh, and arrested two accused.

Hyderabad: In a major crackdown on counterfeit cosmetic products, the Commissioner’s Task Force, South-East Zone, busted an illegal manufacturing unit producing duplicate Karachi Mehendi cones in Hyderabad and seized fake products and machinery worth ₹8 lakh. Two persons involved in the racket were apprehended during simultaneous raids in Balapur and Afzalgunj.

The operation was carried out on January 13, 2026, in coordination with Balapur Police Station and Afzalgunj Police Station.
Simultaneous Raids in Balapur and Afzalgunj
Based on a tip-off, Task Force teams conducted raids at:
- A manufacturing unit in Minar Colony, Balapur
- SKS Travels & Cargo in Afzalgunj, used for transportation of fake goods
During the raids, police caught the accused red-handed while manufacturing and supplying duplicate Karachi Mehendi cones to markets in Hyderabad and other cities.
Accused Identified
Police arrested the following accused:
- Md Asif (48), a carpenter from Minar Colony, Balapur – Manufacturer
- Deepak Kumar (25), a businessman from Gowliguda – Wholesaler and Supplier
Officials said the accused were cheating customers by selling counterfeit mehendi products in the name of a popular brand.
Fake Mehendi and Machinery Seized
Police seized a large quantity of counterfeit goods and equipment, including:
- 8,400 duplicate Karachi Mehendi cones
- Mehendi filling machine and mixer
- Heating stoves and weighing machine
- 10 drums of duplicate liquid material
- 100 kg mehendi dry powder
- Oxalic acid and colour used for mixing
- Packing materials and Karachi-printed boxes
- Empty cones and two mobile phones
The total value of the seized material is estimated at ₹8,00,000.
How the Racket Operated
According to investigators:
- Md Asif initially produced unbranded mehendi cones
- Due to low demand, he began making fake Karachi Mehendi to cash in on brand popularity
- The products were supplied through wholesaler Deepak Kumar
- Fake goods were transported via private cargo services and sold as original products
Police said the operation posed health risks to consumers and caused financial loss to genuine brands.
Case Registered, Further Probe On
The accused and seized materials were handed over to the respective police stations for further legal action. Officials said more arrests are likely as the investigation continues.
The raid was conducted under the supervision of senior Task Force officers, who reiterated that strict action will be taken against those involved in counterfeit manufacturing and cheating the public.
