Nikhat Zareen secured a dominant 5-0 victory in the finals of the national tournament, reaffirming her position as one of India’s top female boxers. Shabbir Ali lauded her performance, calling it a strong and promising start to the year. “Nikhat Zareen has once again made Telangana and the entire country proud. Her commitment and discipline are inspiring for the younger generation,” he said.
He extended his best wishes for her future tournaments, including the upcoming Asian Games, the World Championships, and her journey towards an Olympic medal. Shabbir Ali expressed confidence that Nikhat Zareen would continue to shine on the global stage, bringing further recognition to Indian boxing.
As a token of appreciation, Nikhat Zareen presented Shabbir Ali with a jacket from the World Boxing Championship held in Liverpool in 2025. She thanked him for his continued support and encouragement throughout her career. During the interaction, she also expressed heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Shabbir Ali for facilitating her appointment as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the Telangana Police, calling it a proud moment for her and her family.
“I am grateful to the Telangana Government for recognising my efforts and providing me with the opportunity to serve the State as a DSP. This support motivates me to work even harder for my country in the ring,” said Zareen.
Shabbir Ali emphasised the Telangana Government’s commitment to promoting sports and supporting sportspersons. He noted that the State has been consistently honouring athletes who have brought national and international recognition. “As part of this initiative, we nominated Nikhat Zareen and Indian cricketer Mohammed Siraj for DSP posts. Their success stories are examples of what talent can achieve when supported by the government,” he said.
He further stated that the government is actively investing in sports infrastructure, training facilities, and welfare schemes for athletes to ensure holistic development of sports in Telangana. (eom)
