A tragic road accident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district claimed the lives of 10 Army personnel after a vehicle fell into a deep gorge, leaving 11 others injured.

At least 10 Indian Army soldiers lost their lives, and 10 others were injured in a tragic road accident in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. The incident occurred when an Army vehicle fell into a deep gorge while the soldiers were travelling to a high-altitude post.

Officials said the accident took place at Khanni Top on the Bhaderwah–Chamba Road.
Vehicle Fell Nearly 200 Feet into Gorge
According to officials, the bulletproof Army vehicle, carrying around 20 to 21 personnel, went out of the driver’s control and plunged nearly 200 feet into a deep gorge. The impact was severe, resulting in extensive damage to the vehicle.
Initially, four soldiers were found dead at the spot, while others were critically injured. Some of the injured soldiers later succumbed to their injuries during evacuation or while undergoing treatment.
Joint Rescue Operation and Medical Evacuation
A joint rescue operation involving the Army, local police, and emergency teams was launched immediately after the accident. Due to the steep terrain, the operation took several hours.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also expressed deep grief over the tragic accident at Khanni Top.
