Congress and BJP Betraying Backward Classes: K Kavitha at Telangana Jagruti Republic Day Event

At a Republic Day event, K Kavitha accused Congress and BJP of betraying Backward Classes and announced a January 29 round table meet on BC caste census under Telangana Jagruti.

Hyderabad: Accusing both the Congress and BJP of deceiving Backward Classes (BCs), K. Kavitha, President of Telangana Jagruti, announced that the organisation is intensifying its fight to protect BC rights. She made these remarks while addressing a gathering on the occasion of Republic Day at the Telangana Jagruti office in Banjara Hills.

National Flag Hoisted at Telangana Jagruti Office

On the occasion of Republic Day, K Kavitha hoisted the national flag at the Telangana Jagruti headquarters and extended greetings to citizens. She said the nation must move forward with strong patriotic spirit, inspired by the ideals of Subhas Chandra Bose, and work towards social justice.

Allegations Over BC Caste Census

K Kavitha alleged that the BJP has begun a new deception in the name of the BC caste census. She also accused the Congress government of presenting incorrect data on BC population figures.

She stated that while there was initial trust in a caste census conducted by the central government, the official document released does not even contain a separate column for Backward Classes, which she described as an insult to BC communities.

Demand for BC Sub-Caste Enumeration

Emphasising the need for accurate data, K Kavitha said Telangana Jagruti is demanding a detailed enumeration of BC sub-castes. She added that discussions are already underway with BC intellectuals to prepare a comprehensive population-based document.

Round Table Conference on January 29

K Kavitha announced that a round table conference will be held on January 29, involving:

  • Backward Classes
  • BC sub-castes
  • Nomadic and denotified tribes

She said the outcome will be a detailed report on the population ratio of every caste and sub-caste, which Telangana Jagruti will submit to the central government.

Warning Against Political Deception

Drawing parallels with the past, K Kavitha alleged that Congress betrayed BCs in 2011, and warned that BJP is likely to repeat the same in 2026. She stressed that such efforts must be strongly opposed and called upon Telangana Jagruti to emerge as a people’s movement for social justice.

The Republic Day address by K Kavitha has once again brought the issue of BC caste census and sub-caste enumeration to the forefront of Telangana politics.
