Chaitanyapuri Police Nab Two Interstate Chain Snatchers, Gold Chains Seized in LB Nagar Zone
Chaitanyapuri Police arrested two interstate chain snatchers involved in multiple LB Nagar zone cases and seized gold chains after a swift operation in Delhi.

Hyderabad: The Chaitanyapuri Police have successfully arrested two habitual interstate chain snatchers involved in multiple gold chain snatching cases across the LB Nagar Zone. The arrests were made after a swift and well-coordinated operation, with the accused traced and apprehended in Delhi.

Chain Snatching Incident on January 17
According to police, on January 17, 2026, the accused arrived in the LB Nagar zone on a Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle and carried out gold chain snatching attacks on women in the limits of:
- Hayathnagar
- Nagole
- Chaitanyapuri
After committing the offences, the accused abandoned the bike near Sangeetha Theatre Cross Roads, Secunderabad, and fled to Delhi.
Accused Arrested After Interstate Operation
Following the incidents, three special teams were formed by Chaitanyapuri Police. Using:
- CCTV footage analysis
- Tower dump and CDR analysis
- Technical surveillance and field verification
One team travelled to Delhi and arrested the accused, recovering the stolen property.
Accused Details
- Akshay Kumar Sharma alias Akshay Sharma (29), delivery boy, resident of Sagarpur, New Delhi
- Rohit (26), delivery boy, resident of Laxman Vihar, Gurugram, Haryana
Police revealed that both accused are habitual offenders with a long criminal history involving chain snatching and theft cases in Delhi and Nagpur.
Multiple Cases Detected
Chaitanyapuri Police detected nine chain snatching cases registered at:
- Nacharam
- Jawaharnagar
- Shameerpet
- Hayathnagar
- Nagole
- Chaitanyapuri Police Stations
The accused had earlier been arrested by Nagpur Police in July 2025, but resumed criminal activities soon after their release.
Property Seized
Police seized the following items from the accused in Delhi:
- Gold chain – 6.4 grams (Chaitanyapuri case)
- Gold chain – 20.8 grams (Nagole case)
- Gold chain – 28 grams (Hayathnagar case)
- Two mobile phones
Senior Officers Supervised Operation
The operation was carried out under the supervision of:
- B Koteshwar Rao, Additional DCP, LB Nagar Zone
- A Krishnaiah, ACP, LB Nagar Division
The special team was led by DI S Guruswami of Chaitanyapuri Police Station.
