Secunderabad Task Force Nabs Robbery Gang, Three Arrested in East Marredpally Gold Robbery Case
Secunderabad Task Force and Lalaguda Police arrested three robbery gang members involved in an East Marredpally apartment robbery and seized gold worth ₹4.5 lakh.

Hyderabad / Secunderabad: In a major breakthrough, the Secunderabad Task Force along with Lalaguda Police arrested three members of a robbery gang involved in a shocking house robbery at Arihant Sadan Apartment, East Marredpally. The accused had forcibly confined and assaulted a woman and robbed gold ornaments weighing about 9 tolas, police said.

Robbery at Arihant Sadan Apartment
The robbery took place at the residence of Sharath Naresh and was registered as Crime No. 17/2026 under Section 309 of BNS at Lalaguda Police Station. Acting swiftly, police teams tracked the accused and arrested them in the early hours of January 27, 2026, near Secunderabad Railway Station.
Accused Arrested
The arrested persons have been identified as:
- Gurrappagari Mahesh (36), labourer, native of Sri Sathya Sai district, Andhra Pradesh
- Chinnakotla Pavan Kumar alias Bavanna (48), labourer (cement work), from the same village
- Geeju Surendra (37), unemployed, resident of Cheekirevulapalle village
Gold Ornaments and Phones Seized
Police recovered stolen property worth ₹4.5 lakh, including:
- Gold beaded chain – 18.15 grams
- Gold finger ring – 3.15 grams
- Gold bangle – 7.52 grams
- Two mobile phones (POCO C71 and POCO M7)
Total gold seized weighed 28.8 grams.
How the Robbery Was Planned
Police said prime accused Mahesh, who earlier worked as a watchman at Arihant Sadan Apartment, used his knowledge of residents’ movements to plan the crime. Along with his associates, he entered the flat, threatened the victim, robbed her gold ornaments, and escaped. The accused later fled to Karnataka, shared the stolen property, and went into hiding.
Criminal Background of Accused
Police revealed that:
- Mahesh is involved in two kidnapping cases registered at Karkhana Police Station
- Pavan Kumar is an accused in a murder case in Bengaluru (2019)
Operation Under Senior Officers’ Supervision
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Rakshitha K. Murthy, Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath, along with senior officers of Secunderabad Zone and Lalaguda Police.
Police Commended for Swift Action
Senior officials appreciated the coordinated effort of the Task Force and Lalaguda Police, stating that the accused were arrested within a short time and stolen property was successfully recovered.
