South Range Crime Review: Addl CP Tafseer Iqbal Reviews Law and Order, Orders Strict Action

Addl CP Tafseer Iqbal reviewed crime trends and law and order at the South Range monthly meeting in Hyderabad, stressing strict action, surveillance, and improved conviction rates.

The monthly crime review meeting of the South Range Zone was conducted on January 28 at the Old CP Office, Purani Haveli, Hyderabad, under the chairmanship of Tafseer Iqbal, Additional Commissioner of Police, South Range. The meeting focused on crime trends, law and order issues, and strengthening policing measures across the zone.

Senior police officers, including Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) from Charminar, Golconda, Shamshabad, and Rajendranagar zones, along with all Zonal Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), attended the review.

Detailed Review of Crime and Law & Order

During the meeting, officers presented a detailed assessment of monthly crime trends and the overall law and order situation in the South Range. Special attention was given to grave crimes and unresolved (UI) cases, with clear directions issued for early disposal and effective investigation.

Key focus areas discussed included:

  • Speedy investigation of serious and grave crimes
  • Time-bound disposal of pending cases
  • Close supervision of ongoing investigations

Strict Monitoring of Rowdy and History Sheeters

The Additional CP emphasized the need for strict monitoring of rowdy-sheeters and history-sheeters. Officers were instructed to strengthen preventive action, surveillance, and intelligence gathering to prevent repeat offences and maintain public safety.

Focus on Quality Investigation and Convictions

Stress was laid on improving the quality of investigations, effective trial monitoring, and enhancing conviction rates. Officers were directed to ensure that case diaries, evidence collection, and court follow-ups are handled with accuracy and accountability.

Orders for Patrolling and Surveillance

To maintain strong law and order, instructions were issued for:

  • Intensified patrolling in sensitive and vulnerable areas
  • Enhanced surveillance using available resources
  • Better coordination for intelligence collection and sharing

Officers were also directed to strictly follow the prescribed plan of action and ensure responsibility at every level.

Emphasis on Accountability

The Additional Commissioner underlined that accountability and disciplined implementation of instructions are essential to maintain effective law and order across the South Range.
