Hyderabad: In a major crackdown on the Dhoolpet drug mafia, excise officials in Hyderabad have intensified their operations and seized nearly 2.9 kg of ganja during a joint raid. The operation, carried out by the Excise State Task Force (STF) Team-A along with Dhoolpet Excise personnel, led to the arrest of several accused and exposed new methods used to hide cannabis in residential houses.

STF–Excise Joint Raid in Dhoolpet
The raid was conducted on Wednesday at the residence of Rohit Singh in the Machilipura area of Dhoolpet, Hyderabad, following specific intelligence inputs. Initially, officials did not find any illegal substance in the house. However, a careful inspection of the bathroom led to a breakthrough.
Officials noticed a thread hanging from a PVC drainage pipe. When the thread was pulled, ganja packets hidden inside the pipe were recovered. Further checking revealed additional small packets concealed in another pipe, confirming organized drug storage inside the house.
2.936 Kg Ganja Seized
According to excise officials, a total of 2.936 kilograms of ganja was seized during the operation. Investigations confirmed that the cannabis was deliberately hidden inside the residence of Rohit Singh and his wife Veena Bai to evade detection.
Arrests and Absconding Accused
The STF has arrested:
- Rohit Singh
- Rohan Singh
- Veena Bai
However, Santosh Singh and his wife Nandi Singh, identified as key suppliers in the ganja network, are currently absconding. Special teams have been formed to trace and arrest them at the earliest.
Another Ganja Bust on Puranapool Road
In a related operation, excise officials also conducted searches at the residence of Madhav Singh on Puranapool Road. During the raid:
- Over 1.5 kg of ganja was recovered
- Police found that the accused was selling ganja using an auto
- Madhav Singh and another person were arrested
A case has been registered against four individuals in total across these operations.
No Mercy for Drug Smugglers: Excise Officials
Excise officials have made it clear that the drug racket in Dhoolpet will be completely curbed. They warned that strict action will be taken against drug smuggling, storage, and supply, with no leniency for those involved in the illegal trade.
Officials also urged youth to stay away from drugs and appealed to the public to inform police or excise authorities if they come across any information related to ganja or narcotics.
Dhoolpet Under Tight Watch
With repeated raids and arrests, Dhoolpet remains under close surveillance, as excise authorities continue their drive to dismantle the drug mafia operating in Hyderabad. More raids are expected in the coming days as part of this sustained anti-drug campaign.
