Phone Tapping Case: SIT Summons KCR for Questioning at Banjara Hills on February 1

The SIT has summoned former Telangana CM KCR for questioning on February 1 at his Banjara Hills residence in the phone tapping case, rejecting his request for a different venue or date.

Hyderabad: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has accelerated its probe into the Telangana phone tapping case, a controversy that has shaken the state’s political landscape. In a major development, the SIT has issued a notice to former Chief Minister and BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), asking him to be available for questioning at his Nandinagar residence in Banjara Hills at 3 pm on February 1.

SIT Rejects KCR’s Requests

According to officials, KCR had earlier made two requests after receiving the notice:

  • To postpone the questioning until after the municipal election activities
  • To conduct the hearing at his Erravelli farmhouse

However, the SIT rejected both requests, making it clear that:

  • The investigation will not be conducted at Erravelli
  • Questioning will take place only at his Nandinagar residence in Banjara Hills

Probe Intensifies as Key BRS Leaders Already Questioned

The SIT has already questioned several senior leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in connection with the phone tapping case. Those examined include:

  • Harish Rao, former minister
  • K T Rama Rao, former minister
  • Santosh Rao, former MP

Officials said these interrogations were conducted at length. Statements from the accused and information gathered so far have now led the SIT to summon KCR.

Political Circles on Edge

The fresh notice to KCR has heightened political tension across Telangana. With February 1 approaching, speculation is rife over:

  • Whether KCR will cooperate with the SIT and appear as scheduled
  • Whether he may seek another date by writing to the SIT
  • Or whether he could explore legal options

What Lies Ahead

SIT officials maintain that the investigation is being conducted strictly as per procedure and that cooperation from all concerned is essential. The outcome of KCR’s response to the notice is expected to significantly impact the course of the phone tapping case.

As the SIT tightens the probe and prepares to question KCR on February 1, all eyes are on the former Chief Minister’s next move in a case that continues to dominate Telangana politics.
