Background of the Controversy
Readers may recall that a few days ago, MLA Kaushik Reddy allegedly made remarks targeting the religion of Karimnagar Police Commissioner Ghous Alam and accused him of attempting religious conversion. These comments triggered strong reactions and led to widespread criticism.
Following those remarks, the issue escalated, prompting Faheem Qureshi to approach the Human Rights Commission, stating that such statements hurt communal harmony and undermine the dignity of a serving IPS officer.
Next Hearing on February 20
The Human Rights Commission has listed the matter for further hearing on February 20, after receiving the police report. The development has intensified political debate in Telangana over accountability, protection of civil servants, and the responsibility of elected representatives in public statements.
