Komatireddy Slams KCR: ‘No Moral Right to Call Himself Father of Telangana’
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy slams KCR, says he has no moral right to call himself Father of Telangana, credits martyrs and appeals to voters ahead of municipal elections.

Roads & Buildings and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy launched a sharp attack on BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), stating that he has no moral right to call himself the “Father of Telangana.” The Minister said Telangana statehood was achieved through the sacrifices of more than 1,100 martyrs, not by any single individual.

‘Telangana Won by People’s Sacrifice’
Addressing municipal election campaign meetings and a roadshow at Moodu Chinthalapally and Aliabad in the Medchal constituency, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said the Telangana movement was a collective struggle of people from all sections of society, cutting across caste and religion.
He asserted that projecting oneself as the sole architect of Telangana does injustice to history.
Martyrs Are the True Architects of Telangana
Recalling the sacrifices of Srikanthachari of Nalgonda, who immolated himself during the movement, and constable Kishthaiah, who died by suicide, the Minister said:
- These martyrs laid down their lives for Telangana
- Their sacrifices should be honoured and remembered
- Claiming exclusive credit ignores the pain and struggle of thousands
Sonia Gandhi’s Historic Decision
Komatireddy said it was Sonia Gandhi who took the historic decision to grant Telangana statehood, moved by the sacrifices of the youth. He alleged that while the state was born out of sacrifice, those in power later focused on personal wealth.
Attack on BRS Governance
The Minister questioned the BRS’s record, saying:
- Even after adopting Moodu Chinthalapally, basic development was neglected
- Claims of being the “Father of Telangana” do not match ground reality
- Public service, not self-glorification, defines leadership
Appeal to Voters Ahead of Municipal Elections
Urging voters to support Congress candidates, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said development of Moodu Chinthalapally municipality is possible only under the people’s government led by Revanth Reddy.
He appealed to voters to:
- Vote for the Hand symbol
- Elect Congress councillors with a huge majority
- Reject misrule and support transparent, inclusive governance
‘Congress Will Stay Accessible to People’
The Minister assured that:
- He will remain accessible to the public
- Congress councillors will act as a bridge between people and the government
- Public grievances will be addressed promptly with coordination from the Chief Minister
Final Word
Reiterating his stand, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said the title “Father of Telangana” belongs to the martyrs and the people, not to any one leader, and called upon voters to back Congress for accountability, welfare, and development.
