Harish Rao Challenges Revanth Reddy Over Sigachi Factory Accident Compensation in Sangareddy

Harish Rao challenges Revanth Reddy over zero compensation to families of 54 victims in the Sigachi factory accident in Sangareddy, criticising Congress promises and governance.

Sangareddy, Feb 6: Former minister Harish Rao has launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, accusing him of failing to provide compensation to the families of victims who died in the Sigachi factory accident in Sangareddy district, which claimed 54 lives.

Sigachi Factory Accident: ‘Not a Single Rupee Given’

Speaking in Sangareddy, Harish Rao alleged that even months after the tragic Sigachi factory accident, the state government has not provided any financial compensation to the victims’ families.

“I will resign from my MLA post if I give even ₹1 crore compensation to the families of those who died in the Sigachi accident,” Harish Rao said, directly challenging Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

He claimed that he reached the accident site immediately after the incident, while the Chief Minister visited only the next day. Harish Rao also criticised the government for not paying compensation even when the company reportedly offered ₹25 lakh, alleging that the CM failed to release even a single rupee from the state.

Congress Promises ‘Unfulfilled’, Says Harish Rao

The former minister also criticised the Congress government over what he described as unkept election promises, including:

  • Pension hike to ₹4,000, which he said was promised but not implemented
  • Alleged cheating in Kalyana Lakshmi scheme, claiming promises of higher gold support than the ₹1.116 lakh earlier provided under K Chandrashekar Rao
  • Seeking votes in the name of free bus travel, while men’s bus fares were doubled

Harish Rao further alleged that in the last two years, not even a single gazam road or drainage work was carried out in Isnapur, highlighting what he called administrative failure.

‘KCR Saved People During Corona’

Praising former Chief Minister KCR, Harish Rao said that people now realise his importance, especially recalling how KCR protected the public during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The absence of KCR is clearly visible today,” he remarked, urging voters to support leaders who focus on development rather than speeches.

Attack on BJP and Strong Political Remarks

Harish Rao also criticised the BJP, calling it an anti-labour and anti-poor party. He alleged that the current political language being used by the Chief Minister is inappropriate and accused the ruling parties of targeting KCR with threats of jail.

He asserted that KCR would return as Chief Minister in the coming years and promised solutions to public problems. He also urged people to accept money if distributed during elections but vote for the ‘car’ symbol.

Visit to Isnapur Municipality

Later, Harish Rao visited Isnapur Municipality, where he held a one-on-one interaction with local women, listened to their grievances, and discussed civic and development issues affecting the area.

In his concluding remarks, Harish Rao reiterated that the Sigachi factory accident compensation issue reflects the Congress government’s failure and urged people of Sangareddy to vote wisely for leadership that delivers results.
