With May 11 Polls Near, Local Body Election Campaign Reaches Peak

Municipal elections see intense campaigning ahead of May 11 polls, with Congress, BRS and BJP leaders mobilising crowds amid allegations of money and inducements.

With the Parakala municipal elections just days away, the campaign has reached its peak, turning the town into a hub of intense political activity. As polling is scheduled for May 11, candidates from major parties are making all-out efforts to attract voters, while independent candidates are also entering the fray with aggressive campaigning.

Major Parties Step Up Parakala Election Campaign

Leaders from the Congress, BRS, and BJP have intensified their local campaigns in Parakala, aiming to secure control of the municipality. Campaigns are marked by loud music, microphones, artists performing songs, and large crowds moving through wards.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has reportedly directed party MLAs and senior leaders to ensure victory in every municipality, making the Parakala municipal polls a prestige issue for the ruling Congress.

Meanwhile, both BRS and BJP are keen on retaining their influence in Parakala, viewing the municipal elections as crucial groundwork for the upcoming Assembly elections and cadre strength.

Money, Food, and Crowd Mobilisation Allegations

As the campaign intensifies, allegations of inducements have surfaced in Parakala. According to local political circles, candidates contesting for councillor posts are competing to display their strength by mobilising crowds.

Reported campaign practices include:

  • ₹200 to ₹500 allegedly paid to individuals attending rallies
  • Distribution of chicken and biryani at some campaign meetings
  • Payments ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹20,000 to leaders who bring groups to corner meetings

These methods are said to be aimed at creating visible crowd strength and influence voter perception during the Parakala municipal elections.

Claims of Poaching Leaders and Vote Management

It is also being reported that rival party leaders are being allegedly offered money and liquor as bait to influence the election outcome. In some cases, even if leaders do not formally change parties, they are said to be rewarded with amounts ranging between ₹50,000 and ₹1 lakh.

Political observers note that strategies are not limited to voters alone, but also involve attempts to influence local leaders across party lines as part of last-minute election planning.

Final Days Crucial for Parakala Voters

With just four days left for campaigning, political activity in Parakala is expected to intensify further. How many last-minute moves parties make, who switches sides, and how voters finally respond will be known only on polling day.

The Parakala municipal elections on May 11 are now seen as a key political test for all major parties in Warangal district, with implications that may extend well beyond local governance.
