The Telangana government’s WhatsApp Seva initiative has emerged as one of the most popular digital citizen service platforms in the state, with over 3.25 lakh people already availing services. Officials said the programme has simplified access to government services and reduced the need for repeated visits to service centres.

What Is Telangana WhatsApp Seva?
WhatsApp Seva is a 24×7 digital citizen service platform that allows people to access government services directly through WhatsApp by messaging 8096958096. The initiative currently offers 581 services from more than 10 government departments, making it one of the most comprehensive digital service platforms in the country.
Strong Public Response So Far
According to official data:
- Over 4.5 lakh citizens have registered on WhatsApp Seva
- More than 3.25 lakh people have used services
- Services are available round the clock
- Citizens can check application status and download certificates directly on WhatsApp
The service has been especially useful for people who are not digitally savvy, helping them access government facilities with ease.
Most Used Services on WhatsApp Seva
The WhatsApp platform is being widely used for:
- Caste certificates
- Income certificates
- Birth certificates
- Death certificates
Officials said the ability to track service status and download certificates has significantly reduced crowding at physical service centres.
Temple Services Also Available
WhatsApp Seva also offers 31 temple-related services, allowing devotees to:
- Book darshan
- Reserve accommodation
- Access other temple-related facilities
All these services are available through WhatsApp without visiting temple offices.
Emergency Services to Be Linked Soon
The Telangana government has announced that 108, 101, and 102 emergency services will soon be integrated with WhatsApp Seva, further expanding its role in public safety and emergency response.
Thousands of Service Centres, Crores in Transactions
Across Telangana, there are more than 5,000 service centres, with 80,000 to 1 lakh people accessing services daily. From November 1, 2023 to January 31, 2026, the platform recorded 5.98 crore transactions, valued at ₹3,811 crore, highlighting its scale and impact.

The WhatsApp Seva initiative was launched on November 18, 2025, by D. Sridhar Babu, with the aim of bringing citizen services directly to people’s mobile phones.
