Hyderabad Police Felicitate 1,446 Personnel; Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar Introduces ‘Extra Mile’ Awards

Along with senior officers, the Commissioner presented the newly instituted ‘Extra Mile’ Awards and ‘Good Work Done’ Rewards to personnel who demonstrated commitment beyond routine responsibilities.

Hyderabad: In a significant initiative to acknowledge exemplary service, City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, felicitated 1,446 police personnel for their dedication and outstanding performance. The ceremony, held on Sunday at the Telangana State Integrated Command and Control Centre (TGICCC), Banjara Hills, marked the first-ever introduction of the ‘Extra Mile’ Awards by the City Police.

Along with senior officers, the Commissioner presented the newly instituted ‘Extra Mile’ Awards and ‘Good Work Done’ Rewards to personnel who demonstrated commitment beyond routine responsibilities.

Addressing the gathering, Commissioner Sajjanar emphasized that policing extends beyond enforcement and is fundamentally a public service. He called upon police personnel to uphold accountability, innovation, and empathy while serving citizens, noting that public trust is built when officers act responsibly and sensitively, especially while assisting victims.

“The success of policing is not measured only by task completion, but by the confidence and sense of security we provide to the public,” he said, adding that going beyond the call of duty strengthens the bond between the police and the community.

Explaining the objective behind the ‘Extra Mile’ Awards, the Commissioner said the initiative aims to recognize individuals who display exceptional skills and render services outside their defined roles. He expressed confidence that such recognition would motivate the force and inspire higher standards of performance.

Highlighting the importance of human values, Commissioner Sajjanar stated that while technology plays a vital role in modern policing, qualities such as integrity, sincerity, and compassion remain irreplaceable at the grassroots level. He lauded the collective efforts of all ranks—from Home Guards to senior officers—in maintaining law and order across the city.
